I continued creating the first character this week beginning with the head and hair. To create the head I used a sphere to make the shape of the top of the head which was then multi cut and extruded to create the jawline. I also cut out the shape of the eyes which were then pushed back to make room for the eyeballs. I did follow along with the creation of the nose however I did make it thinner than the example, and the lips were made smaller. The eyes was quite easy as it was just a sphere and two cylinders.

Next I began construction of the hair which I made as simple low poly cubes that had one edge flattened which could be overlapped to make the hair seem much more detailed. I could also edit the size and direction the hair moved to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

After this I imported the jersey I created previously to act as the characters clothes with only minimal adjustments to the scale, I then copied the groin and upper legs to create the shorts for the character with me only having to increase the scale slightly to fit the character. Finally I took the feet of the character extruded out some faces on the bottom to create the studs of the boots, then I used the multi cut tool and extruded the new faces inwards to create the space for the laces to go and also created the laces.

After finishing the character I then moved onto rigging the character to see if anything needed to change before texturing it. I found that the should and the waist needed dome readjustment as when moving them it made the players pose look awkward, there was also an issue of the skeleton not being generated in the correct location as it would be created far away from the model but I did mange to get this fixed after a large amount of time. I next practised some posing and sent it into the Trello for feedback.

I next brought the model into 3D substance painter where I gave the model mainly flat colours to replicate the cartoon style that the Organizer wanted which I do think I was successful in replicating the style. I did add a symbol and the initial DJ to both keep in line with how real jerseys are designed but also have a connection to the charity.

I then moved onto creating the second character model for the charity as I could make the model very easily as it was a female version of the character. To make this model I simply took the previous model then adjusted some of the proportions to match similar models that i took as reference and added a ponytail to the character. This method was especially handy as the model was already UVed and rigged saving some headache. When texturing the model I did the opposite colour scheme to the male model to give some contrast however the rest was very similar.
