After finishing my work for the contract I moved back to creating work for my portfolio I wanted to start simple so I decided to create a model based off something I could find in my house.
I looked around for items and eventually decided to create a model based off of a ceramic house that we had as decoration. I chose this as it would let me try to replicate the uneven proportions and experiment with materials to try and make it look as close to the gloss used to paint ceramic as possible.
The overall modelling process was very simple however the difficulty came from when I messed around with bevels and smoothing to try and create uneven surfaces. To also make it closer to the real piece I beveled each edge to give it a smoother appearance. I moved the edge loops so when I extruded the faces the windows would be uneven.

When in substance painter I first attempted to replicate the gloss by using a marble material but after a while I figured out that the painted rolled material with some settings like brush stroke density and roughness was much better at replicating the texture of the art piece.
Finally I used the brush tooled to makes the different paint bleed into one another such as at the door knobs and windows to accurately replicate the piece.
