After completing the Level design Jam I set up a meeting with one of the organizers of the Desy Jennings football festival a football charity located in my home town of Newry. During the meeting I explained what I do as a 3D modeller and all the different skills and tools associated with it. After this explanation the Organizer explained tome what the contract would entail, that being the creation of a number of props and characters that were related to football in general and to the festival itself, renders of said props and characters that can be placed into images of locations of the teams (Bessbrook, Lurgan etc...) and a few very quick and simple animations for social media posts. I agreed to do the work and began by first creating a Trello board so that we could both have a location to place screenshots updates and responses, I did have to explain how to use it as The Organizer wasn't too familiar with the site but it was easy to pick up. I then got to work on the props as that was the aspect that I was the most familiar with.

So to create the football I first decided to look online for any ways to create a better looking football in a short period of time in which I found a very short tutorial video that explained the process of using the soccer ball preset shape, then detaching the faces, using the deform tool to make the ball perfectly round and finally using the extrude tool to make the gaps between the pentagon bump more visible.

After UVing the model I imported it to 3D substance painter to texture it, I first used a simple lace material to give the model some texture then I selected the 'paint rolled' material set the colour to black and used the face selection tool to paint specific faces to create the black and white pattern common on footballs. I also used the black paint to highlight the gaps between the pentagons. Finally I duplicated the project and created a version of the model that had dirt covering it as if it had just been kicked around for some variety.

I then exported the textures and applied them to the model in Maya, before I could send them off I had to place a green screen in the renders so the model could be cut out and placed into other images. I again researched online and found a video that explained how to set up a green screen such as how to disable shadow on the models and which shade of green to use.

I saved a few renders and uploaded them to the Trello then moved onto planning the next model.
